Itinerary: | |||||||
Due to expected inclement weather, the location
for this trip has been changed. We will be backpacking Gorge Creek Loop instead in the beautiful foothills. Views of Mt Rose and Bluerock Mountain at the campsite. Overnight stargazing. Basic backcountry camping at its finest and most basic. No facilities. Mostly well used trails. There will be a few very minor creek crossings, bring your water crossing shoes if you want but nothing major. There is a pole there for a hang. No locker or cache. Bring cord to do a hang or a canister. Bring a small backpacking saw. Easy weekend getaway, generally have a good time sleeping under the stars. Trail might be a bit damp after this week. Distance: 12km one way Elevation gain: 500m one way NOTE: - No group gear being shared. Bring your own gear. - Overnight temperatures can range down to 0c. We'll have a better idea closer to the date. - You're welcome to bring some food to share for snacks if you'd like. Adult beverages are welcome. Plan for an inbound lunch, dinner and next day breakfast at camp and a outbound lunch. - Depending on what time we reach the parking lot, we could stop over somewhere for a social before heading home. - Don't be in a rush to head back to town. - This is an anything goes, fun weekend. If you're uptight about stuff, might not be the event for you. - The lighter your gear, the better. Most of the elevation gain is in the last few Ks. - Training trip for island events later this summer. Priority given to those going. Any questions email me. | |||||||
