Rummel is a beautiful lake in a tranquil setting. It is similar to Chester Lake but not as busy. It offers great views of Spray Lake along the way.

How to Get There: | |||||||
Event Directions: | NOTE: There is no cell phone reception near
the Rummel Lake trailhead. If easier, we can meet up at the Kananaskis Visitor Centre (also known as Barrier Lake Visitor Centre) parking lot, prior to the event. We can then convoy out to the trailhead in our separate vehicles. It will take you ~40 mins from Canada Olympic Park to Kananaskis Visitor Center which is located on Hwy #40, approx. 6kms from Hwy #1. It'll be on your right (west) side, WATCH FOR THE SIGNS. I will be there at 9:30am sharp (driving grey Honda pickup truck) and we will leave Kananaskis Visitor Centre at 9:45am (SHARP). Or meet at Trailhead RUMMEL LAKE TRAILHEAD: Take the Trans Canada Highway (Hwy #1) west from Calgary for approximately 70 km, then turn south on Hwy #40 for approximately 50 km. Turn right onto the Kananaskis Lakes Trail (just before the winter gate). Turn north (right) onto the Smith-Dorrien Trail (gravel road) and continue for ~27 kms. Park at the turn-off for Mount Engadine Lodge. | ||||||
