Distance: ~5 km on trail + ??km exploring
Elevation Gain: 200m +
This is a fairly short snowshoe trail with some great scenery. We will take the official snowshoe trail and check out some of the side routes. This may involve some trail breaking.
The pace will be moderate - beginners are welcome. Speed demons beware.
Please note that we may be sharing part of these trails with x-country skiers so we need to be careful not mess up their tracks.

Note that this event requires driving several kilometers up the Smith Dorrien Road, which is a gravel road, and can be icy/treacherous. Please keep this in mind when registering for this event and indicating you are willing to drive.
|How to Get There:|
|Event Directions:||Take Hwy 1 west out of town. Go south on Hwy 40
for approx 56km. Turn right onto the Kananaskis
Lakes Trail just before the winter gate. Turn
right again onto the Smith Dorrien and drive
approx 20 km. The Sawmill Parking Lot is on your
right and is well signed. We will be stopping either at Pocaterra Hut or the Visitor Centre before heading up the Smith Dorrien.|
