Itinerary:
This event is an Executive and Volunteer Retreat where, in addition to enjoying the phenomenal scenery, we will be chatting about the future of the Calgary Outdoor Club.

There will be a planning meeting at Joyce on 4th on December 8th at 6:30 pm in order to solidify details of the trip, includiing:

1. If you plan to ski or snowshoe,
2. What you are bringing for the potluck supper,
3. Carpool arrangements.

Participants will be selected according to following criteria:
1. Executive and Committee Members
2. Volunteers
3. Premier Members
4. Regular members.

From Elk Pass Trailhead (Peter Lougheed Park) the plan is to ski into Elk Lakes Park on Saturday Dec 17, which is a intermediate 4 hour ski. After arriving and setup at Elk Lakes cabin, we can spend Saturday afternoon exploring the Elk Lakes area by ski or snowshoes (optional). Sunday (Dec 18) we will ski back out to our vehicles.

Distance: 9 kilometres
Elevation gain: 200 m (650 ft) gain, 200 m (650 ft) loss
We will break into groups based on pace, but nobody skis or snowshoes alone.

The cabin has cooking facilities and beds, but you will need to bring a reasonable +5 sleeping bag.

If you are willing to drive, please indicate the number of passengers (including gear) that you can take.

The trip to and from the Elk Lakes hut is except from avalanche planning as it is considered to be generally free from avalanche being on groomed cross country trails and a hydro line; however trip from the hut to the Elk Lakes for example will pass through ATES Simple (Class-1)
Forecast Avalanche Danger Level Forecast for Saturday and Sunday is
Alpine : Moderate
Treeline : Low
Below Treeline : Low
Should the avalanche danger rise to High or Extreme at any elevation on the day of the event, we will avoid any travel in ATES Simple (Class-1) terrain
