The trail winds and switchbacks upwards through forests and leads us to panoramic views of the prairies/foothills and surrounding peaks.

ELEVATION: Please note: If you have not hiked before with a lot of elevation, it is highly recommended that you start with a hike with less elevation. Always remember to hike within your own ability.

We will be travelling at a steady pace with stops; please note speedy hikers must be prepared to slow down and stay with the group.

Drive west on Hwy 1 from Calgary and take the Sibbald Creek Trail (Hwy 68) turnoff. At the Powderface Trail junction turn left and drive south to the Dawson camping area and trailhead for approximately 3 kms. Park here. The trailhead is at the east end of the parking area.
