This event is intended for anyone that enjoys
scrambles equivalent to Mt. Yamnuska. We will
have some big adventures but the plan is never
to be in a big rush. Leaving Calgary Friday evening. We will be car camping at Chinook lake PRA. https://www.albertaparks.ca/parks/south/chinook -pra/information-facilities/ Over the 3 days we will enjoy in my opinion 3 of the best scrambles in the Crowsnest Area. None of which should take longer than 5 to 7 hrs each, even if we linger at the top. Day 1(Saturday): Turtle mtn. (Blairmore to Hillcrest loop with shuttle).12K 900M http://www.trailpeak.com/trail-Turtle-Mt-Frank- Slide-near-Blairmore-AB-1208 Day 2:Canada day! lets do my favorite of the 3. Crowsnest Mtn. 8K 1100M gain. http://www.trailpeak.com/trail-Crowsnest- Mountain-near-Blairmore-AB-1300 Day 3: We will pack up and head up Mt.Ward 10K 762M gain.http://www.trailpeak.com/trail-Mount-Ward- near-Blairmore-AB-2003 We can meet at my place in the south Friday night. (address to follow) I have plenty of secure underground parking to leave vehicles. Drive out and stop on the way for a quick bite. we should get there before 8:00pm to set up camp. Lets keep it simple and just bring our own gear and our own food. I will be bringing 2 jet boils and a Coleman stove you can use if you need it. Lets try to double up on the tents though so we can keep it to 2 campsites. Cost TBD. Camp fees, share of fuel expenses,Dont be surprised if we go for food after a hike. There are some fun restaurants and pubs in the area. Lets all be flexible and have a great Canada day weekend! | |||||||
