Itinerary:
Rating difficult due to distance, a scree slope and a creek /river crossing. 21 km round trip, 770 m cumulative elevation gains. The hiking trail follows a wide valley past Elbow Lake and a side valley north of the Elbow River headwaters. Some water wading to about 30 cm deep will be involved; expect wonderful scenery.

The trail is "wickedly steep" on scree for less than the final 1 km up to the pass itself - option is to wait by a huge boulder at the base of this climb.

Coordinator has done this hike once before.
