Itinerary:
WCT Backpack Training. Priority given to those going to the West Coast Trail event in June. This event is about tuning your gear and getting used to moving camp from one day to another.

Random backcountry overnight. We'll be backpacking and random camping mostly in a valley. While it’s in the trees some of the way, there’s enough views of surrounding mountains to make it all worthwhile.
Distance:
Day 1: Approx 12 km / 250m to Mt Romulus campsite
Day 2: Approx 6 km to a random remote campsite. Expect some bushwhacking.
Day 3: Approx 6 km to go home.
The Plan:
SATURDAY – Early morning drive out to the trail head, haul in to the main site, chill for a bit, explore the area. Have dinner, have a mini potluck. Main meal is your own but bring a very light snack to share. Having a campfire may not happen so don't count on it, be prepared. There may be a water crossing or two, so be prepared with the spring run off.
SUNDAY - Wake up nice and early, hike to random campsite #2. Explore the area, and just chill out or go explore if you are energetic.
MONDAY - After a morning breakfast hike out and head back. Do not be in rush to get back to Calgary, we may be back late. It all depends on what time you get up. Might stop over somewhere for real food and refreshments.

Notes:
- Pack your rucksack as you would for 7 days instead of 3. You need to get used to the weight of the pack for those doing WCT
- Exact route will be determined closer to the event when we will have a better idea of trail conditions then
- Expect about 3-4 hours per day of hiking, give or take also depends on how fast you can move
- This is a really fun anything really goes event, If you're uptight about stuff, might not be the event for you.
- Speed will be moderate but definitely not for super slowpokes
- It's bear country so you'll really need to practice bear awareness and safety. We will be doing a bear hang or bring a bear cannister. BEARSPRAY and Bear Hang or Bear Cannister is MANDATORY

Gear:
- Standard backpacking gear the lighter the better
- Any required group gear will be pre-arranged but be prepared to be self sufficient.
See link below for backpacking gear. If you are new to this, contact me if you have not backpacked before. Beginners are welcome.
Backpacking List (the lighter the better).
