EXPECT: some route finding, some light bushwhacking while ascending a somewhat steep slope through trees, a few short sections of rocky ruggedness while descending

This event is best suited to those who have completed hikes with similar distances and elevation gain over the past while and who also enjoy getting off the beaten path for a portion of the hike.
We will be staying together as a group at my pace for the entire hike.
This event is not for those that are use to a quick pace or like to wander off or race ahead.
We are out to enjoy this Halloween Celebration and our time on the trail could vary. We will not be in a rush to return to the city by a certain time.

HALLOWEEN CELEBRATION
This event is for members who enjoy getting caught up in the spirit of Halloween. Wear or bring along Halloween attire and bring treats to share. The attire does not have to be elaborate, or it can be, but something to acknowledge the occassion. Our lunch time summit visit will be lengthy allowing time for fun photo opportunities, having lunch and sharing treats. You will want to have warm layers to stay comfortable for our lengthy visit.

HIKE DESCRIPTION
The first six or so kms have very gradual elevation gain. Then we hang a hikers left and begin a steeper climb for about 450 meters of elevation gain finding our way through the forest with some light bushwhacking. We will pop out on the summit of Hunchback Hills which is like a little ridge with wide open spaces and sports a large cairn. From the summit we will see Barrier Lake & Lookout, Cox Hill, Jumpingpound, Moose Mountain, Mount Baldy and Midnight Peak to name just a few. After our Halloween Celebration we will carry on along the Hill and begin our descent which will be rugged at times. You may choose to use your hands for support in a spot or two. We will intersect with the main trail and continue on back to the trail head.
