Hike Description
Big distance! Big elevation gain! Big scenery! Big day! You can obtain all that when you pick the Skoki area to venture to with the summit of Fossil Mountain as your main destination. We will check off the 3.7 km hike up the road, have a quick visit at the Halfway Hut, work our way up through Boulder Pass, skirt around the west side of Ptarmigan Lake, ascend to Deception Pass, then attack the very steep slope up to our reward. While I have been to Deception Pass I have not reached the summit of Fossil Mountain. We will work as a team to find our way to the top so it’s best to do some research so you can contribute and also to find out what to expect. Come with healthy knees, mental strength plus your fun attitudes. Also come prepared to spend a good amount of time on the summit only if conditions are favorable.
