Route 66 - Scenic Highway 66 is a rolling winding road with 2 big climbs to test your endurance. According to Smack Cycle, the road is clear and totally rideable already. We will ride from the closed winter gate (near Prairie Mountain) to Little Elbow Campground and back. No vehicular traffic to deal with - YAY! We will have a picnic lunch at Forgetmenot Pond. A few years ago when we did this ride, we were very fortunate to be at the pond while the ice was breaking up on the surface. It was magical to watch, and hear, all the perfect little shards peeling off and floating away. Maybe we'll get lucky and see the same thing this time. A variety of paces are welcome. If you're super-slow, or not sure you can do the whole thing, don't sweat it. Go as far as you can until our designated turn-around time, and then... turn around. If you're super-fit and hard core, you might want to drive by yourself, start at Bragg Creek itself (for a 65km round- trip ride), or repeat sections of the ride (lapping the other riders). | |||||||
