WHATTA DAY !!!

Great group (as usual!) and a gorgeous warm and sunny day. We ended up riding 38 or so km (more for the people who lived further away and rode to the event).

This was a bit of an exploratory trip in finding out what trails are open, plowed, and in the case of the canal trail @ Glenmore Trail if you can even get to them (they pulled up the old bridge that had the sidewalk with it along the original Glenmore Trail near the Glenmore Inn).
The gentlemen imbibing in a tipple of Malt Liquor behind the strip mall said the canal trail was not plowed and snow was still quite deep so it was very tough to walk along. So I think the canal can be said to be closed, especially as you can't access it at the North (17th Ave SE) end due to construction. So we opted for a ride along Ogden Road back to the Bow River pathway.

Lynnview Road SE, our favorite ride up on a closed to cars road is of course, not plowed either so we had to stick to the the slightly busy Millican Road. The trail along the upper valley bank from Beaver Dam Flats park to Lysander Drive is also not cleared so 300m walking was required by those without fatbikes / studded tires.

Other than that, most of the pathway systems were as they were last year, quite accessible.

Studs (tires, not people) did come in handy as there were many ice floes across the paths and roads. Generally short, they could be ridden across if one was careful but studs added a safety margin.

We ended up at Cold Garden for a brief rehydration.
